Are you a senior or assisting a senior? Needing help finding services, resources, and programs that support your individual needs?
Our seniors Bloom with Care programs support the independence, dignity, and health of seniors by providing them and their families with information and a wide range of referral services. This allows seniors to maintain strong social connections and continue to thrive as they age. BWC helps you to stay active with knowledge about social, recreational, and volunteer activities.
Bloom offers a variety of programs that provide seniors and caregivers opportunities to maintain and increase their social one-to-one consultations for more complex needs. We are your first step to finding the information you need about:
Our free and confidential services are offered by appointment. We will listen carefully, and answer any questions you may have.
The Bloom Better at Home program is open to residents of the Cambridge community who are 65 years and over or who are between the ages of 55-64 and on disability assistance. To be eligible, a resident must be living independently and not in private or publicly subsidized assisted living or a long-term care home. We aid with the following:
A formal intake assessment is required to determine program eligibility. Fees may apply based on a sliding scale that depends on an individual’s or couple’s annual net income.
Friendly visiting services by volunteers are free of charge. Please note that an eligible resident may be placed on a waitlist depending on the service requested and the availability of volunteers.
Our Bloom Caregiver Support program supports individuals who care for others so the caregiver can maintain their resilience, health, and well-being.
Stepping into a caregiving role is often a life-altering experience. Caregiving takes courage, patience, and endurance. It can be a challenging and lonely role.
Fortunately, you are not alone.
We are here to help you gain knowledge, strength, and inspiration that will allow you to connect with other caregivers. Our Caregiver Support Program hosts support groups and workshops, one-on-one consultations in person, by telephone, and online as well as referrals to health care and community services. We offer stress management strategies and relaxation techniques, informative blog posts, a resource library, and a bi-monthly newsletter.
If you are interested in becoming a caregiver coach and/or peer facilitator to host support and/or education groups and would like to assist with 1-1 support for caregivers please contact us.
Our Community Services program educates, connects, empowers, and navigates you to services and people who can assist you and help you make decisions and take action that benefits you and the Community.
We welcome first-time visitors to Bloom Community with a warm introduction to a Client Care team member.
We invite each one to share their story with us and then hear about how Bloom Community offers to extend a ‘hand-up’ that may help them.
The visitor may look to engage with our Client Care (Core) Program with its staff and volunteers and may apply for support through our Rent Bank, or continue as a drop-in Emergency Needs client.
First-time visitors need to bring a piece of picture ID plus a piece of mail that shows their address. (During the COVID-crisis, our building is not open, so please contact us by phone or email.)
